Extract

Outdoor unit absorbs heat from the air — even on the coldest UK winter days. natural refrigerant — propane (R290) is compressed to high temperature using a variable-speed twin rotary compressor — the inverter modulates output continuously to match the building's real heat demand. Propane (R290) is a natural refrigerant with a global warming potential of 3, exempt from EU climate regulations — no risk of expensive refrigerant replacement during the unit's service life.

Distribute

Indoor indoor controller takes the heat from the outdoor unit and routes it to your heating circuit and hot water cylinder. Unlike Grandis-range indoor units where the pump, expansion vessel, valves, and controller ship pre-assembled in one box, the Aconomis indoor controller is a smart electrical control unit — the cylinder, circulation pump, and valves are site-built around it. Lower capital cost, simpler indoor footprint, well suited to small-flat retrofits.

Reverse

In summer, the cycle reverses. Chilled water flows through underfloor pipes for silent water-based cooling. No separate condenser, no wall-mounted split units, no fluorinated-gas certification needed. Both Aconomis and Grandis ranges support reversible cooling — same compressor and refrigerant circuit that heats in winter cools in summer.

All-in-one outdoor

All refrigerant stays in the outdoor unit — only water pipes enter your home. No special refrigerant handling needed at install or service. Unlike split-system heat pumps that require a refrigeration-qualified engineer for refrigerant work, Grandis R can be installed by any MCS-certified heat pump installer without fluorinated-gas certification.

Controls

Room thermostat plus the ACOND HeatUp app set your target temperature. Weather compensation adjusts water temperature automatically as outdoor conditions change — keeps the system running at peak SCOP without homeowner intervention. Multi-zone scheduling per room. Remote diagnostics by ACOND if anything ever goes wrong.

Hot Water

Heat-pump-priority mode heats the cylinder ahead of space heating when there's demand. For 3–4 bed homes, a 210–250L indirect cylinder is typically right-sized — fits an airing cupboard, plant room, or utility space. Weekly anti-legionella cycle runs automatically. For tight installs, swap the standard cylinder for a Sunamp Thermino heat battery (4× smaller, see Works With section below).

SCOP 4.92 Efficiency rating — A+++ heating, certified to EN 14825. 492% efficient: every 1 kWh of electricity delivers about 4 kWh of heat over a typical UK heating season.
Heat per kWh 5.12 Heat output per kWh of electricity, measured at typical UK winter conditions (7°C outside, 35°C water).
Output to 15 kW Sized for typical UK 3–4 bed homes: 130–170 m² floor area. Variable-speed inverter modulates output continuously to match real demand — no oversized cycling, no on/off short-cycling.
Operating −22 → +35°C Full capacity delivered across every UK winter day. Tested at the cold winter temperatures the UK occasionally sees.
Indoor Unit Indoor controller Indoor controller — smart electrical control unit. Cylinder, circulation pump, expansion vessel, and 3-way valve are site-built around it. Lower capital cost than a Grandis indoor unit, smaller indoor footprint.
Refrigerant propane Natural hydrocarbon. GWP 3. Exempt from EU climate regulations — no risk of expensive refrigerant replacement during the unit's service life.
Electrical 230V · 1ph 230V single-phase, 50 Hz. Standard mains supply, no three-phase distribution required. RCD per UK Building Regulations.

Control

Grandis R ships with the ACOND HeatUp app for iOS and Android, plus room thermostat in the reference room. Weather compensation and multi-zone scheduling as standard. Remote diagnostics from ACOND through cloud connection — if anything ever goes wrong, the manufacturer can see it before you call.

HeatUp app · iOS / Android

Luxury comfort, always within reach. The free ACOND HeatUp mobile app gives full system control — set heating, cooling, and hot water modes, adjust setpoints, view live status, schedules, and energy consumption. A single account supports multiple buildings — useful for landlords, property managers, and CleverBloom service plan visibility.

Weekly scheduling per zone

Independent temperature setpoints and time programmes per heating zone. Bedrooms cooler than living areas at night. Weekend schedules different from weekdays. Holiday mode drops everything to frost protection. All configured once on the app, then runs automatically.

Real-time energy monitor

Live kWh consumption visible in the app — see exactly what your heating is costing per day, per week, per month. Compare seasons. Identify the rooms or schedules that drive consumption. Particularly useful when paired with solar PV — see when the heat pump runs on free roof energy vs grid.

Weather compensation

Auto-adjusts water temperature before you feel cold. Reads outdoor temperature, predicts heat demand, and modulates output continuously. Keeps the system running at peak SCOP without manual setpoint chasing — the homeowner just sets a comfortable room temperature and the controller does the rest.

Multi-zone temperature

Independent room temperature control across the property. Each zone valve and room thermostat reports back to the controller. Bedrooms can run at 18°C while the living area runs at 21°C. Empty zones default to frost protection. Optimises both comfort and running cost.

Filter and service alerts

CleverBloom service plan visibility through the same control architecture. Push notifications when annual service is due, when filters need a check, or when the heat exchanger is approaching a recommended deep clean. No surprise breakdowns from missed maintenance.

Remote diagnostics by ACOND

ACOND monitors connected units remotely from their service centre in the Czech Republic. Most warranty cases can be diagnosed without a site visit — sensor logs, water temperatures, compressor performance all visible to the manufacturer. Faster fixes, lower service cost, longer system life.

Cloud connected · OTA updates

WiFi connection to ACOND cloud. Firmware updates pushed over-the-air — controller logic, app features, and bug fixes installed automatically. The unit you buy this year keeps getting better through its 20-year design life. No need for installer site visits to apply software updates.

Smart home integration

Optional building-control protocol integration with home automation systems — Loxone, KNX (via gateway), Crestron, or any compatible building-management systems. Configurable as part of the project for clients running whole-house automation. Most domestic clients run the HeatUp app standalone; smart home integration is an upgrade path when needed.

Installation

Heat-pump-replacement project takes 3–5 days end-to-end for a typical 3–4 bed home. Allow up to 7–10 days if radiators need resizing throughout or new pipework runs are extensive. No council permission needed under permitted development since May 2025 (listed buildings excepted). CleverBloom is MCS-certified and applies for the £7,500 government grant on your behalf where the property qualifies.

01 Consultation Free · phone or video Discuss the property, the current heating setup, and what you want to achieve. Confirm BUS grant eligibility (must be replacing a fossil-fuel boiler, EPC valid, no outstanding loft / cavity insulation recommendations). Indicative sizing and approximate quote sent within 48 hours.
02 Survey & Design Half day on site Heat loss calculation per room (standard MCS heat-loss methodology). Radiator and underfloor heating assessment — which radiator or floor loops work as-is, which need resizing. Cylinder sizing based on occupancy and demand. Electrical capacity check. Outdoor unit position confirmed. Final spec and fixed-price quote issued.
03 Install 3–4 days on site Outdoor unit positioned on a concrete pad, side return, or wall brackets. Indoor controller mounted indoors (utility room, plant cupboard, or garage). Pipework run from outdoor to indoor unit. Cylinder installed (or Sunamp Thermino if specified). System filled with treated water. Existing boiler decommissioned and removed where applicable.
04 Commission Half day Initial power-up and air purge. Flow rates set per radiator or floor loop. Weather compensation curves configured. HeatUp app paired to homeowner's network. government-approved commissioning certificate (MCS) issued. BUS grant claim filed by CleverBloom on the homeowner's behalf. £7,500 deducted from final invoice on grant approval.

Components

Six components make up an Aconomis R system. Each one specified to suit your property's heat-loss profile and hot-water demand. Same component breakdown shown in the pricing section below — what's in the system, what's site-built, what each part does.

1 · ACOND Aconomis R outdoor unit

The heat pump itself. Variable-speed twin rotary compressor with natural refrigerant — propane (R290), 15 kW heating output. Stainless steel housing. 4× efficient (492% efficient, A++, certified), COP 5.12 at A7/W35. Sits on a concrete pad or wall brackets — outdoor unit only, no refrigerant lines run indoor (all-in-one).

2 · Indoor controller

Smart electrical control unit — the indoor brain of the system. Houses the controller, weather compensation logic, RCD protection, and HeatUp app connection. Pump, valves, expansion vessel, and cylinder are site-built around it. Smaller indoor footprint than a Grandis indoor unit — fits a utility room or plant cupboard.

3 · Hot water cylinder

Indirect cylinder, 210–250L typical for a 3–4 bed home. Heat-pump-priority charging brings the cylinder up to temperature from the heat pump alone for normal demand. Weekly anti-legionella cycle automatic. Tight space? Replace with a Sunamp Thermino phase-change battery (4× smaller — see Works With section below).

4 · Buffer tank

Thermal store between heat pump and radiator or floor loops. Stops the heat pump short-cycling when demand fluctuates, gives the system stable water temperatures, and gives the variable-speed inverter time to find its optimal modulation point. Typically 60–100L for a 3–4 bed system.

5 · Pipework & materials

Insulated water pipes between outdoor unit and indoor controller. Stainless steel or copper to MCS standards, insulation rated for outdoor exposure. Cable run for outdoor unit electrical supply, RCD wiring, and outdoor temperature sensor. All sized at survey to suit the routing — short runs reduce pipework cost, long runs need more insulation.

6 · Water treatment

Magnetic filter and corrosion inhibitor on the heating circuit — protects the heat exchanger from sludge and prevents corrosion. Manufacturer warranty requirement. In hard-water regions like London, an Ecosoft softener on the cylinder feed prevents limescale build-up that would otherwise degrade efficiency over time.

Aftercare

What ACOND covers as standard, and the two system-protection components that keep the warranty valid and the heat pump performing year after year. CleverBloom service plans and extended warranties available — quoted alongside the install.

5 year manufacturer warranty

ACOND warrants the Grandis R for 5 years from commissioning as standard. Optional extension to 7 years available when the system is on a CleverBloom annual service plan — the inspection record satisfies ACOND's extended-warranty conditions. Both parts and labour covered.

20 year design life

ACOND publishes a 20-year design life on the Grandis range. Heavy-duty stainless steel housing resists coastal salt and urban pollution. Variable-speed twin rotary compressor with inverter control modulates output continuously — fewer hard starts, less mechanical wear, longer service life than fixed-speed alternatives. Serviceable components throughout, no proprietary failure points.

propane future-proof

Propane (R290) is a natural refrigerant safe from upcoming EU regulations that restrict synthetic refrigerants. No risk of expensive refrigerant replacement during the unit's service life — unlike R32 or R410A systems where supply will tighten and prices will rise as phase-down progresses. Propane (R290) has roughly 1,000× lower climate impact than R32.

MCS certified

Every Grandis R installed by a government-approved (MCS-certified) installer qualifies for the £7,500 government grant and complies with government noise and performance standards (MCS 020). CleverBloom is MCS-certified and handles the grant application end-to-end. Grant deducted upfront from your invoice on approval.

Water treatment

A magnetic filter and corrosion inhibitor protect the heat pump's heat exchanger from sludge and scale. Treated system water is a manufacturer warranty requirement — untreated systems are typically excluded from cover. The combination keeps efficiency steady, prevents pump and valve failures, and means fewer service callouts over the life of the unit.

Water softener

An Ecosoft softener removes calcium and magnesium from the feed water before it reaches the heat pump. In hard-water regions like London, this stops limescale forming on the heat exchanger surfaces — the single biggest cause of efficiency drop-off and component failure in air-to-water heat pumps. With a softener fitted, the system runs at design performance for decades instead of degrading year by year.
