20+ YEARS OF ACOND R&D
A single weatherproof box sits outside the home on a paving slab or wall bracket. Inside it: the compressor, heat exchangers, and a fan. Two insulated water pipes run from it into the house to feed your radiators or underfloor heating and a hot-water cylinder. No boiler indoors, no big plant room.
The unit pulls heat out of the outside air — even on cold winter days — and concentrates it into hot water. It takes 1 unit of electricity and turns it into around 3 to 4 units of heat. The colder it is outside, the less efficient it gets, but it still works at -15°C and below.
The Aconomis range uses twin rotary inverter compressors (good, reliable). The PRO range uses Copeland Scroll inverter compressors (premium, quieter, slightly higher efficiency). For Passivhaus and low-heat-loss new builds, where running cost optimisation matters most, the PRO N's COP 4.2 vs Aconomis N's -COP 3.8 means roughly 10% lower annual electricity use.
A Passivhaus or EnerPHit-spec retrofit has very low heat loss — perhaps 2–5 kW peak demand. Most heat pumps don't modulate well down to such low outputs and end up short-cycling. The PRO N's scroll compressor modulates down to about 1.5 kW with high efficiency, matching very low-load buildings perfectly.
Copeland Scroll inverter compressors are inherently quieter than rotary compressors. Combined with the PRO N's sound-dampened cabinet, the unit operates at 47.7 dB(A) at 1 m — comparable to a hushed library. For sensitive sites (close to bedrooms, adjacent to neighbours, in dense urban gardens), the PRO N is the only ACOND model that consistently meets the tightest sound limits.
If you have rooftop PV, surplus solar electricity can run the heat pump directly — effectively free heat. With a smart heat-pump tariff (like Octopus Cosy or Go), running cost can be very low compared to gas. The PRO N works with both.
PRO N ships with the ACOND HeatUp app for iOS and Android, plus room thermostat in the reference room. Weather compensation and multi-zone scheduling as standard. Remote diagnostics from ACOND through cloud connection — if anything ever goes wrong, the manufacturer can see it before you call.
HeatUp app · iOS / Android
Full system control from your phone. Set heating modes, adjust setpoints, view live status, schedules, and energy consumption. A single account supports multiple buildings — useful for landlords and property managers.
Weekly scheduling per zone
Independent setpoints and time programmes per heating zone. Bedrooms cooler than living areas at night. Holiday mode drops everything to frost protection. Set once, runs automatically.
Real-time energy monitor
Live kWh consumption visible in the app. Day, week, month views. Especially useful in Passivhaus-spec homes where every kWh matters.
Weather compensation
External weather sensor adjusts the flow temperature based on outside conditions. Less overheating, lower bills. Especially efficient in Passivhaus envelopes where the heat-loss curve is shallow.
Remote diagnostics
ACOND's service team can see the unit's status remotely. Most warranty issues get diagnosed before an engineer is dispatched — saves time and disruption.
Smart-home integration
PRO N speaks Modbus and KNX out of the box — integrates with Loxone, Crestron, or any modern smart-home BMS. Useful for new-build Passivhaus projects with full home automation.
The PRO N is available in single-phase (most installs) or 3-phase (larger variants). CleverBloom confirms which is right at survey stage. For Passivhaus / EnerPHit projects, the heat-loss calculation needs the building's actual heat-loss data, not generic estimates.
Six components make up a PRO N system. The premium-line specification — Copeland Scroll inverter compressor, R290 propane refrigerant, and the indoor module compatible with airtight Passivhaus envelopes.
1 · PRO N outdoor unit
The heat pump itself. Copeland Scroll inverter compressor — the premium choice, lower vibration and longer life than rotary compressors. R290 propane refrigerant (GWP 3). Stainless steel housing. 47.7 dB(A) operating sound. Sits outside on a wall bracket or ground pad.
2 · Indoor module
Compact wall-mounted indoor unit houses the controller, weather compensation logic, RCD protection, expansion vessel, and HeatUp app connection. Smaller footprint than a Grandis indoor unit — suits a Passivhaus utility cupboard.
3 · Hot water cylinder
Indirect cylinder, sized to the home (180–300L typical). Stainless steel with high-efficiency coil for PRO N's 70°C max water temperature. Anti-legionella heating cycle scheduled weekly.
4 · Buffer tank (optional)
Small buffer tank smooths compressor cycling and improves system efficiency in larger or mixed-emitter properties. Optional for smaller Passivhaus homes where heat loss is so low it's not needed.
5 · Magnetic filter + treatment
Magnetic filter on the return circuit catches metal sludge. Inhibitor and biocide treatment protect the heat exchanger and pipework. Warranty requirement. Annual check during service.
6 · Power supply
Single-phase 230V for smaller PRO N sizes, three-phase 400V for larger ones. CleverBloom advises on supply upgrade if needed — we coordinate with your local DNO for the connection application.
A heat pump runs for about 15–20 years on average with normal maintenance. Like a boiler, an annual service keeps efficiency high and the warranty active.
5-year manufacturer warranty
ACOND's standard 5-year warranty covers the heat pump and the compressor (the most expensive component), at no extra cost or conditions. UK warranty work via ACOND's authorised service network.
Annual service recommended
Outdoor unit inspection, fan and coil clean, refrigerant pressure check, heating-system pressure check, magnetic filter clean. About 1–2 hours per year. Most homeowners get this done in spring or autumn.
No refrigerant top-ups expected
The unit is sealed at the factory with natural refrigerant (propane). No routine refrigerant work during normal life. If a fault ever requires opening the refrigerant circuit, only a refrigeration-qualified engineer can do this.
Smartphone app monitoring
The ACOND app shows real-time performance, energy use, and any error codes. Homeowners can adjust schedules and target temperatures remotely. Useful for spotting any issues early without needing a service call.
Weather-protected design
Stainless steel cabinet (IP24 outdoor rating) keeps the unit running through UK winters. Auto-defrost cycle prevents frost build-up on the coil during cold spells. Built to last decades in real-world weather.
