Works with any solar inverter you already have
The battery charges from one of two sources — surplus solar generation during the day (when the panels are producing more than the house is using), or cheap overnight electricity from the grid (Octopus Agile, Cosy, or any time-of-use tariff). The All-in-One's AI-driven scheduler picks the right source based on the tariff, the weather forecast, and the household's expected evening load. No homeowner intervention needed.
When the grid is expensive — typically 4 PM to 7 PM on a UK weekday — the battery discharges to power the home. 6 kW nominal AC is enough to run a heat pump, an induction hob, the oven, the lights, the TV, the laptops, and a slow EV charger simultaneously. 7.2 kW peak for 10 seconds handles motor startup loads. The home runs on stored electricity, not grid electricity, for the expensive hours.
If the grid fails — storm, transformer fault, planned maintenance — the Giv-Gateway switches the home from grid power to battery power within 20 milliseconds. That's fast enough that lights don't flicker, fridges don't restart, and computers don't reboot. The home keeps running on the 13.5 kWh stored in the battery for approximately 10 hours of typical household load.
The All-in-One contains its own inverter — the box is both battery and inverter in one. That means it AC-couples to the home's existing electrical system rather than requiring a hybrid solar inverter swap. Already have a Solis, Fronius, SolarEdge, or Sungrow PV inverter? The All-in-One sits alongside it on the same consumer unit. No solar system rip-out required for the retrofit.
When the battery is full and the panels are still producing, surplus exports to the grid under the Smart Export Guarantee at up to 15p/kWh. Octopus Outgoing Agile pays a half-hourly variable rate that peaks at 30p+/kWh on summer evenings — at which point the battery can discharge to grid at a profit. Same hardware, two different revenue streams depending on the tariff.
A full charge-discharge cycle moves 13.5 kWh of energy through the battery. Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells handle 6,000+ full cycles before measurable capacity loss — at one cycle per day, that's a 16-year working life. The battery management system (BMS) balances every cell on every charge, keeps temperature within the operating window, and reports cell health to the cloud for predictive maintenance.
The All-in-One ships with the GivEnergy app for iOS and Android, plus web portal access. AI-driven scheduling, real-time monitoring, remote diagnostics, and Octopus Agile tariff integration. Most homeowners set the tariff once and never touch it again — the system optimises itself.
GivEnergy app · iOS / Android
Live view of battery state of charge, solar generation, home consumption, grid import and export — all on one screen. Set charge and discharge schedules, view savings, check warranty status. The single account covers multiple sites — useful for landlords, multi-property owners, and CleverBloom service plan visibility.
Octopus Agile integration
Direct API integration with Octopus Energy's half-hourly Agile tariff. The system reads the next 24 hours of pricing, charges from the grid during the cheapest 4–6 hours overnight (typically 11 PM to 5 AM), and discharges through the expensive evening peak. Saves about £400–£700 per year over a flat tariff, depending on consumption pattern.
EPS whole-home backup
Paired with the Giv-Gateway, the system delivers Emergency Power Supply (EPS) for the entire home — not just a few essential circuits. 20 ms switchover keeps lights on, internet routers connected, fridges running. Critical for home offices, families with medical equipment, or remote properties on overhead supply.
Solar-priority charging
When solar is producing, the system prioritises charging the battery before exporting. Set a daily SoC target (e.g. 80% by 4 PM) and the AI schedules grid top-up only if solar won't get there. Maximises self-consumption — typically 75% of solar generation stays on-site instead of exporting at 5–15p/kWh and re-importing at 25–30p/kWh.
EV charger coordination
When a paired EV charger (OCTA Wall, Zappi, Andersen) is drawing power, the system avoids discharging the battery into the car — that's an inefficient double conversion. Instead, it routes solar surplus or cheap grid directly to the car, keeps the battery for the home's evening load. Configurable load priority via the app.
Real-time energy monitor
Live kWh visibility for every circuit the system meters — battery, solar, grid, home consumption. Compare seasons, identify the appliances and schedules that drive consumption, see exactly where the savings are coming from. Particularly useful in the first three months after install to validate that the system is performing as quoted.
Remote diagnostics by GivEnergy
GivEnergy monitors connected units remotely from their service centre in Stoke-on-Trent. Most warranty cases can be diagnosed without a site visit — cell voltages, temperatures, inverter performance all visible to the manufacturer. Faster fixes, lower service cost, longer system life. UK-based support, UK office hours, UK manufacturing for parts.
Cloud connected · OTA updates
Wi-Fi, LAN, and optional 4G connectivity to the GivEnergy cloud. Firmware updates pushed over-the-air — inverter logic, app features, tariff integrations all upgrade automatically. The unit you buy this year keeps getting better through its 12-year warranty life. Recent OTA additions include Octopus Cosy and Intelligent tariffs, plus new EV-charger coordination logic.
Multi-unit parallel
Up to six All-in-One units can run in parallel for systems up to 80 kWh. For homes with very high consumption (heat pump + EV + home office), the Expansion Battery (matching 13.5 kWh module without inverter) extends the main unit to 40.5 kWh on a single inverter — lower cost-per-kWh than parallel inverters. Both architectures supported.
Six components make up a complete All-in-One installation. The main unit is a single enclosure containing the battery packs and inverter; the Gateway is a separate companion unit that enables whole-home EPS backup. Specified together for any retrofit where backup is required.
1 · All-in-One main unit
The integrated battery and inverter cabinet. 1100 × 600 × 280 mm wall-mounted enclosure, 173.7 kg total. Contains four 3.375 kWh LiFePO4 battery modules, the AC-coupled inverter, the battery management system, and the cloud-connected control board. IP65 weatherproof — installs indoor (utility, garage) or outdoor (side return, weatherproof façade).
2 · Giv-Gateway
The companion unit that enables whole-home backup. Sits between the grid supply and the consumer unit, switches the home from grid to battery within 20 ms when the grid fails. Includes a connection point for solar PV input so the panels keep generating during a grid outage. Required for EPS — without it, the All-in-One is grid-tied only.
3 · Battery management system
The BMS lives inside the main unit. Monitors voltage, current, and temperature on every one of the 240+ LiFePO4 cells. Balances cells on every charge so all 13.5 kWh stays usable through the warranty life. Limits charge/discharge rate at cell-level temperature extremes. Reports cell-by-cell health to the cloud for predictive maintenance.
4 · CT clamp & metering
Current transformer clamp installed on the incoming grid tail at the consumer unit. Measures real-time house consumption and grid import/export. The system uses this data to decide when to discharge the battery, when to charge, and when to export. Pre-configured with WAGO connectors — no terminal screws, tool-free wiring.
5 · DC and AC isolators
Built into the main unit — no separate isolator cabinet required. AC isolator on the grid-side connection, DC isolator on the battery internal bus. Switchgear pre-installed and factory-tested. Reduces install time by a half-day compared with older modular battery systems where switchgear was installed and commissioned separately.
6 · Communication module
Built-in Wi-Fi, LAN, and optional 4G LTE connectivity. RS485 and CAN ports for integration with third-party energy-management systems, smart-home platforms, and EV chargers. LoRa optional for sites with no internet — useful for rural properties where Wi-Fi reliability is marginal.
What GivEnergy covers as standard, and the two installation-side decisions that determine whether the battery delivers its full warranty life. CleverBloom service plans and extended monitoring available — quoted alongside the install.
12 year manufacturer warranty
GivEnergy warrants the All-in-One for 12 years from commissioning — one of the longest warranties in residential battery storage. Covers the battery cells (retained capacity), the inverter, the BMS, the enclosure, and the Gateway. Parts and labour included. UK-based warranty service via the GivEnergy Stoke-on-Trent office — no shipping to overseas service centres.
LiFePO4 cell chemistry
Lithium iron phosphate is the safest commercial battery chemistry. Won't thermal runaway under fault conditions — unlike NMC (the chemistry in most EVs and older home batteries), LiFePO4 doesn't release oxygen during thermal events. Critical for indoor installs where the battery sits in a utility room near sleeping occupants. Class A1 fire rating per IEC 62619.
6,000+ cycle life
Tested for 6,000 full charge-discharge cycles before measurable capacity loss. At one cycle per day, that's a 16-year working life — past the 12-year warranty. Most home use cases run 0.7–0.9 cycles per day (the battery rarely fully drains), pushing real-world lifespan to 20+ years. The cell chemistry is the limiting factor; the inverter and BMS are designed to outlast it.
UK-made · UK warranty
Designed and assembled in Stoke-on-Trent. Warranty service is handled by GivEnergy's UK team — no overseas shipping for repairs, no language barrier, no time-zone delays. Spare parts hold in UK stock for the 12-year warranty life. The single largest UK battery storage manufacturer at the residential scale.
SYSTEM PROTECTOR
Correct CT clamp position
The CT clamp is what tells the system how much the house is using right now. Wrongly positioned — on the load side of the consumer unit instead of the supply side, or facing the wrong direction — and the system misreads consumption and discharges into the grid instead of the house. A 30-second installer detail that determines whether the battery saves money or wastes it. Verified at commissioning.
SYSTEM PROTECTOR
Stable Wi-Fi or 4G uplink
The All-in-One needs cloud connectivity to read the Agile tariff, push OTA updates, and report cell health for predictive maintenance. A weak Wi-Fi signal at the unit location causes silent disconnects — the system stays operational but drops out of agile scheduling and stops earning the cheap-overnight saving. Optional 4G LTE backup module covers properties where Wi-Fi reliability is marginal.
Heat pump unit only. Radiators, UFH, and emitters are on the heating page.
