Above-ground intake

A vertical riser pipe extends up the facade from basement level to a hood positioned above ground. Outdoor air is drawn from clean above-ground level — never from soil-saturated cellar air at boot height.

Heat-recovery cycle

For 70 seconds the Xenion® fan extracts stale, damp air from the basement through the ceramic accumulator, which absorbs its heat. The fan then reverses — fresh outdoor air enters through the warm ceramic, picking up the stored heat on the way in.

Condensate drain

Built into the riser pipe. Any condensation that forms on the cool-side surfaces is collected and drained. No standing water, no drips into the wall fabric, no damp problems where you're trying to fix damp problems.

Filter

Incoming fresh air passes through a fine filter at the inner cover. Pollen filter for hay-fever sufferers, activated carbon for traffic-fronted homes (NOx and odours).

Continuous moisture removal

Most basements are damp because they're sealed. The Sylt provides constant low-rate air exchange — humidity stays in check, mould loses its growing conditions, the basement starts to feel like a usable room.

Frost protection

Operating range −20 to +50°C. The fan has its own temperature monitor and wind-pressure stabiliser. Below −20°C the unit pauses to prevent ice forming on the ceramic core.

Control

The iV-Smart+ Sylt ships with sMove s4 wired wall controller. The optional HYG18 humidistat extends the controller with humidity-triggered demand control — strongly recommended for basements where moisture is the primary issue.

sMove s4 controller

Hardwired wall controller for up to 4 iV-Smart+ Sylt units. 5-year manufacturer warranty. Capacitive touch buttons switch between operating modes.

Four ventilation modes

Four pre-defined airflow levels selected at the controller. Modes correspond to humidity-protection, reduced, nominal, and intensive ventilation per DIN 1946-6.

Infinite slider

For finer control beyond the four presets, the slider allows infinitely variable airflow. Useful for fine-tuning to actual basement humidity load.

HYG18 humidistat (recommended)

External room hygrostat with digital RH/temperature display. Threshold and switching hysteresis set with rotary knob. Triggers the sMove to increase ventilation when basement humidity rises.

Boost function

15-minute timed boost at the controller — for clearing a sudden moisture event (e.g. drying laundry, post-flood drying, decorating). Returns to background mode automatically.

Pause function

Temporarily stop ventilation for 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours. Auto-resumes at the previously set mode.

Three operating modes

Heat recovery (default — Xenion fan reverses every 70 seconds), ventilation (single-direction without HR), and pause/stop. Selectable at the controller.

Frost protection

Operating range −20 to +50°C. Below −20°C the unit pauses to prevent ice formation on the ceramic core, then resumes when conditions allow.

Operating hours counter

Built into the sMove — useful for scheduling filter cleaning at consistent intervals (typically 3–6 months in basement use).

Installation

Through-wall installation with a vertical riser pipe up to above-ground level. The riser is the install variable — it scales to building base height between 260 mm and 750 mm.

01 Consultation Free · phone or video Discuss the basement — wall type, ground level vs ceiling height, drainage situation. Confirm 180 mm core drill is suitable. Establish riser length needed (260–750 mm above building base).
02 Survey 30 mins on site Mark drill location on inside basement wall, check for cables/pipes with detector. Measure riser route up the facade. Check backwater levels and condensate drainage path. Agree top hood RAL colour.
03 Install Half day on site Core-drill 180 mm wall opening, fit R-D160 wall sleeve, install Xenion fan + ceramic core. Mount riser pipe up the facade with included fitting kit, connect condensate drain. Top hood at finished level. Power via single 13A spur.
04 Commission 30 mins Wire the sMove s4 to its wall position. If specifying HYG18 humidistat, install at room mid-height and set humidity threshold. Test condensate drainage. Filter cleaning demonstration. Hand over.

Components

Standard iV-Smart+ ceramic core inside the wall, plus a vertical riser pipe with condensate drain and an above-ground top hood. The riser is what makes this a basement product.

Wall opening

Ø180 mm core hole through the basement wall. Minimum wall thickness 270 mm — typical for solid masonry basement walls. Mind backwater levels and drainage during placement.

Riser pipe

Vertical pipe extending from basement level up the facade to above-ground level. Length 260–750 mm depending on building base height. Includes integrated condensate drain.

Top hood

Above-ground weather-protected intake/exhaust hood. 159 × 880 mm vertical profile. Choice of white (RAL 9016), beige (RAL 1001), grey (RAL 9006), or dark grey (RAL 7015).

Xenion® reversible fan

Brushless DC fan with temperature monitor and wind-pressure stabiliser. Reverses direction every 70 seconds. S3 classification per DIN EN 13141-8.

Ceramic accumulator

Honeycomb thermal storage core, identical to the standard iV-Smart+. Absorbs outgoing heat in 70 s, releases it on reversal. No moving parts, 25+ year design life.

Inner cover with G4 filter

Flair inner cover, 233 × 233 mm RAL 9010 white. Pollen, activated carbon and hygiene filter upgrades available.

Wall mounting sleeve

Standard R-D160 wall sleeve, Ø160 mm. Includes condensate channel routing into the riser pipe drain.

Facade fitting kit

Material for fitting the riser pipe to the building facade or building base — included as standard. Mounts to render, brick, or stone walls.

Energy class

A+ in cold climate, A in average climate. ErP / Ecodesign rated, KfW Efficiency House proven.

Aftercare

Standard inVENTer reliability with one extra check: condensate drain flushing once a year. Otherwise filter cleaning is the only routine task.

5 year warranty

inVENTer covers the unit for 5 years from commissioning. Manufactured in Germany since 1999. ISO 9001 quality system, full CE conformity.

25+ year design life

Ceramic accumulator has no degradation path. Xenion brushless fan rated 50,000+ hours continuous operation. Inventin insulation does not settle or compress.

Filter change

Every 3–6 months in basement use — basement air typically carries higher dust load than upper floors. Pull cartridge, wash or replace, slot back. Takes 2 minutes.

Condensate drain check

Once a year, flush the condensate drain with clean water to clear any sediment. Takes 2 minutes — done from inside the basement, no facade access needed.

No service contract

No annual servicing required. No smart subscriptions, no remote monitoring fees. The unit just runs.

No refrigerant

Purely mechanical — fan, ceramic, no F-gas. No regulated handling, no leak risk, no phase-out concerns.
