The X-Flow runs supply and exhaust simultaneously through separate ducts. One air stream pulls stale air out; another supplies fresh filtered air in. Both run continuously — no cycling, no reversal.
Inside the unit, the supply and exhaust air streams pass each other at right angles through a heat exchanger. Heat transfers from outgoing to incoming air through the exchanger plates. The two streams never mix, but 87% of the heat does.
CO₂, temperature, and humidity sensors sit inside the unit at intake. The X-Flow reads room conditions in real time and ramps airflow up or down automatically — no separate sensors to wire, no app required.
ePM 10-70% filter on the supply side — captures pollen, fine dust, and particulates 70% efficient at PM10 size. The highest filtration grade in the inVENTer range. Indoor and outdoor air filters, both replaceable from the unit front.
All controls live on the device front: automatic mode, manual mode, boost, and pause. No separate wall controller, no app, no pairing. The unit calibrates its own airflow automatically during commissioning.
When the unit pauses or powers off, internal flaps close on both supply and exhaust to prevent draughts and stop outdoor air infiltrating the room. Closed-state air-tightness is part of the engineering, not an accessory.
All controls live on the device front. No wall controller to wire, no app required. The X-Flow reads room conditions in real time and runs itself automatically — manual override always available.
On-device touchpad
Capacitive touchpad on the front of the unit. Selects operating mode, displays current airflow and sensor readings. No external wall controller required.
Automatic mode
The default. Unit reads CO₂, temperature, and humidity continuously and adjusts airflow to keep room conditions in the comfort zone. Cooking, hosting, working — the unit responds.
Manual mode
Override automatic behaviour and set airflow level directly at the touchpad. Useful when you want predictable airflow regardless of sensor readings — e.g. during long video calls or focused work.
Boost mode
Maximum airflow at 180 m³/h for clearing odours, post-cooking, or rapid air change after gatherings. Returns to automatic mode after the timed cycle.
Pause mode
Temporarily stop ventilation. Internal flaps close automatically to prevent draughts. Auto-resumes at the previously set mode after a configurable interval.
CO₂ sensor
Built-in CO₂ sensor reads room concentration in real time. Drives automatic boost when readings exceed comfort threshold (typically 1000 ppm). The most useful sensor in occupied rooms.
Humidity sensor
Built-in humidity sensor triggers automatic ramp-up when humidity rises — e.g. cooking steam, drying laundry, or exercise classes. No separate humidistat needed.
Temperature sensor
Built-in temperature sensor influences automatic mode. Ensures the unit doesn't pull excessive cold air into the room during winter or excessive heat during summer.
Auto-shutter flaps
When the unit pauses or powers down, internal flaps close automatically on supply and exhaust ducts to prevent draughts and stop outdoor air infiltrating the room.
Two wall holes, two sleeves, then position the tower against the external wall and plug into a 230V outlet. Commissioning happens at the on-device touchpad.
A self-contained floor-standing tower with everything inside the casing. Two wall holes carry the supply and exhaust air to and from outside.
Tower dimensions
520 × 1945 × 202 mm (W × H × D). 40 kg. Floor-standing against an external wall — height roughly equivalent to a designer radiator. Sits flat against the wall.
Wall openings
Two Ø180 mm core holes through the same external wall — one for supply air, one for exhaust. Spaced for thermal separation and routed to the unit through R-D160 wall sleeves.
R-D160 wall sleeves
Two R-D160 sleeves fit into the wall openings. Includes light weather-protection grilles externally (RAL 9010 white) — flush with facade, no protruding hood.
Cross-flow heat exchanger
Plate exchanger inside the tower. Supply and exhaust streams cross at right angles through metal plates. 87% heat recovery, no air mixing. No moving parts in the exchanger itself.
Integrated supply & exhaust fans
Two integrated fans — one for supply, one for exhaust — running continuously. Lower speed, lower noise per cubic metre than reversing fans. ePM 10–70% filter on the supply side.
Indoor and outdoor air filters
Two filters: one filters the incoming outdoor air (ePM 10–70%), the other filters the outgoing indoor air to protect the heat exchanger. Both replaceable from the front of the unit.
Sensor module
CO₂, temperature, and humidity sensors integrated into the unit. Measure room conditions at intake and feed automatic control logic in real time.
Touchpad & control unit
Capacitive touchpad on the front of the unit. Selects mode, displays sensor readings and current airflow. Pre-installed connection cable plugs into a standard 230V outlet.
Auto-shutter flaps
Internal flaps on supply and exhaust ducts. Close automatically when the unit pauses or shuts down — no draughts during pause, no thermal bridge through the wall openings when off.
The X-Flow has more components than a wall MVHR — two filters and a sensor module — but the maintenance load is still low. Filter changes every 6 months and a CO₂ sensor recalibration once a year are the only routine tasks.
5 year warranty
inVENTer covers the unit for 5 years from commissioning. Manufactured in Germany since 1999. ISO 9001 quality system, full CE conformity.
Filter changes
Two filters: incoming ePM 10-70% and outgoing protection filter. Both replaceable from the front of the unit. Recommended every 6 months in residential, 3 months in high-occupancy or polluted environments.
CO₂ sensor recalibration
CO₂ sensor benefits from annual recalibration to a known fresh-air baseline. Done by opening windows fully for 30 minutes and triggering calibration mode at the touchpad. Takes 5 minutes.
Heat exchanger inspection
Cross-flow exchanger plates can be removed and rinsed once a year if needed. Most installations don't need this — the protection filter keeps the exchanger clean.
No service contract
No annual servicing required. No smart subscriptions, no remote monitoring fees. The unit just runs.
No refrigerant
Purely mechanical — fans, plate exchanger, no F-gas. No regulated handling, no leak risk, no phase-out concerns.
Heat pump unit only. Radiators, UFH, and emitters are on the heating page.
