ON THE LOW-H2O HEAT EXCHANGER
Inside the unit is a small coil and a quiet fan. Warm or cool water flows through the coil. The fan pulls room air across the coil and pushes it back out at the right temperature. Like a radiator with a fan that does both heating and cooling.
Sensors measure the water temperature. When the water's warm, the unit heats the room. When the water's cool (a heat pump can run in reverse in summer), the same unit cools the room. No buttons to press.
The whole unit can be tucked into a wall recess or above a suspended ceiling, with just a discreet grille visible. Or surface-mounted in its own slim casing if you don't want building work.
Add an optional air mixing box and Briza can bring outdoor air into the room while heating or cooling it. One unit replaces a radiator, an air conditioner, and a ventilation grille.
The fan uses an EC motor (electronically commutated). Compared to the old AC fans in older fan coils, it's about 32% more efficient, runs almost silently, and lasts longer because the motor electronics are integrated with the fan itself.
Designed for low water temperatures. Heating starts when the water reaches 28°C, cooling starts when it drops to 18°C. That's the temperature range a heat pump runs at most efficiently.
Smart enough to run itself, simple enough not to need a manual.
Automatic heat/cool
Sensors check the water temperature and the room temperature constantly. Picks heating or cooling for you. No switching modes by hand — especially helpful in spring and autumn when the weather changes by the hour.
Wall control panel
A small wall panel (Jaga’s DPC control) sets the temperature and shows what mode the unit’s in. Familiar thermostat-style interface.
Quiet by default
Briza 22 runs under 35 dB(A) in normal use — quieter than a normal conversation, like soft background air movement. Suitable for bedrooms, offices, and meeting rooms.
Modulating speed
The fan adjusts its speed in small steps based on how far the room is from your set temperature. Faster when warming up from cold, gentler once you’re comfortable.
BMS-compatible
For offices and commercial buildings, the unit accepts a standard 0–10V signal — integrates with any modern building management system.
CleverBloom can help
If you want help choosing the control panel or integrating with an existing thermostat, we sort it on the day of install. Or call us anytime afterwards.
Best installed as part of a wider renovation or new build — though retrofit options exist for occupied properties.
What’s inside the slim Briza casing — the parts that make heating, cooling, and ventilation work from a single quiet unit.
1 · Low-H2O heat exchanger
A small aluminium-and-copper coil — holds 90% less water than a steel radiator. Hot water flows through it in winter, chilled water in summer. The hydrophilic coating sheds condensate cleanly during cooling. Same exchanger has a 30-year warranty.
2 · ebm-papst EC fan
Quiet GreenTech motor by ebm-papst — the leading European fan motor maker. About 32% less power than older AC fans, lasts longer (motor electronics integrated with the fan), runs almost silently at low speed. Modulates continuously based on demand.
3 · Washable dust filter
Slides out via the front grille. Rinse under the tap, dry, slide back. Two-minute job, twice a year typical. No filter to order or replace — same one lasts the life of the unit.
4 · Slim casing
Briza 12 is 120 mm deep (the slimmest). Briza 22 is 220 mm deep (more output). Powder-coated metal in standard finishes or custom colours. Built to either recess into a wall/ceiling or surface-mount in a slim visible casing.
5 · Sensors & controller
Water temperature sensor and room temperature sensor work together to pick the right mode (heating, cooling, or off) and the right fan speed. Built-in DPC wall control panel sets the room target temperature. 0–10V signal connects to a building management system if needed.
6 · Air mixing box (optional)
Add the optional ventilation module to bring outdoor air in. Mixes fresh air with conditioned room air. Up to ~180 m³/h fresh air supply. Useful where there’s no separate MVHR system — one Briza handles heat + cool + vent.
7 · Condensate drain
When the unit cools the air, a small amount of water forms inside — just like an air conditioner. A thin drain pipe carries it away to a waste outlet. Checked once a year during service.
8 · CleverBloom can help
Picking the right Briza model (12 vs 22), the right format (recessed/surface/ducted), and the right controls is a design decision — we work through it with you during the site visit.
Designed to last 20+ years with minimal maintenance. The fan is the only moving part.
30-year heat-exchanger warranty
The Low-H2O coil inside has a 30-year warranty — same as Jaga’s wall radiators. The fan and electronics have separate, shorter warranties (typically 2 years).
Built in Belgium
Made by Jaga in Diepenbeek, Belgium. Family-owned business since 1962. The EC motor is by ebm-papst — the leading European fan motor maker, also Belgian-engineered.
Swap the filter twice a year
Lift the grille, slide out the dust filter, rinse under the tap, dry, put back. Two minutes. Do it twice a year, more if the building is dusty (workshops, busy hotels).
Yearly service (commercial)
For offices, hotels, and care homes, an annual visit cleans inside the unit, checks the condensate drain, and tests the fan. CleverBloom offers fixed-price contracts for multi-unit installs.
Condensate drain
When the unit cools, a small amount of water forms inside (the same way an air conditioner makes condensate). A thin pipe drains it away. We check this once a year as part of service.
No VAT on the install
UK government has removed VAT on heating installs until March 2027 when paired with energy-saving heat pump systems. CleverBloom handles the paperwork.
Heat pump unit only. Radiators, UFH, and emitters are on the heating page.
