Freestanding form

Furniture-grade steel cabinet sits on its own floor base. Two flexible flow-and-return pipes emerge from the underside, run a short distance to the wall, and connect to the heating system below the skirting. No wall brackets, no fixings into plaster, no chasing. The unit can be unbolted from the floor base and moved to a different position in the room within five minutes — flexible pipework absorbs the geometry change.

Same hydronic loop, heat or cool

In winter the reversible heat pump sends warm water through the flow pipe. In summer it sends chilled water through the same pipe. The Freedom Clima switches mode automatically when it reads the heat pump's changeover signal. One set of pipes serves both seasons — no second outdoor unit, no parallel cooling infrastructure.

Choose your cooling depth

Two cooling profiles available. Light cooling at 16–20°C flow stays above UK summer dew point — no condensation, no drain. Deep cooling at 7–12°C flow runs the fans harder and gives output a fan-coil would deliver — needs a condensate drain run to a discreet floor outlet. Specified at survey based on what the room needs.

Dynamic Boost fan

Three brushless DC tangential fans sit in the base of the casing. They modulate continuously based on room demand — silent when the room is comfortable, ramping up only when the heat pump runs at the bottom of its flow-temp range or when deep cooling is asked for. Total fan draw 6–22 W at full boost, far less in modulating duty.

Heat pump pairing

Freedom Clima needs a reversible heat pump that delivers both warm and chilled water. CleverBloom pairs it with the ACOND Aconomis range — R290 all-in-one residential units with reversible cooling option. The Aconomis N covers a typical 3-bed retrofit; step up to the Aconomis R for larger homes or to the Grandis cascade for commercial scope.

Why freestanding matters

Listed buildings forbid most wall fixings into period plaster. Conservatories often lack a solid wall to fix to. Glazed extensions have no wall at all under the windows. Rented homes need reversibility at end of tenancy. The Freedom Clima answers all four — it sits on its own base, leaves no scars when removed, and travels with the furniture if the room layout changes.

Light Cooling 16–20°C Chilled flow above typical UK summer dew point. No condensation, no drain plumbed. The simplest install — closest to a heating retrofit. Best for bedrooms, studies, listed-building scope.
Deep Cooling 7–12°C Chilled flow below dew point — condensation forms on the heat exchanger and is captured by a base tray, then pumped to a discreet floor outlet up to 3 m away. Best for south-facing offices, treatment rooms, hot London bedrooms during heatwave weeks.
Output Range 0.6–2.4 kW By cabinet size and cooling profile. Light cooling delivers 0.6–1.4 kW. Deep cooling delivers 1.2–2.4 kW from the same cabinet — equivalent to a fan-coil unit. Specified at survey based on what the room needs.
Cooling COP ~5× Heat pump cooling efficiency. Cooling cost per £1 electricity stays well above the cost of equivalent split-AC cooling — the same outdoor unit you already paid for does the job.
Refrigerant water-side All refrigerant stays in the heat pump's outdoor unit (when paired with ACOND R290 monobloc). Only water enters the room. No fluorinated-gas certification needed at install or service.
Outdoor AC — None. The same heat pump that heats your home in winter cools it in summer. No condenser on the wall, no second outdoor unit, no neighbour-consultation for an additional external box.

Control

Dynamic Boost auto mode

Default mode. Fans modulate continuously based on the temperature differential between flow water and room air. Silent when the room is comfortable, ramping up only when the heat pump runs at low flow temps or deep cooling is asked for. No manual setpoints — the unit gives the room what it asks for.

Heat / cool / off modes

Three master-state inputs from the heat pump's controller. Heat — fans assist warm water output. Cool — fans assist chilled water output, drain valve enabled if specified. Off — full standby, fans dormant. Changeover automatic via heat pump signal.

Room thermostat input

Standard 0–10 V or thermostat-contact input — accepts signals from any building controller. Integrates with Tado, Nest, Drayton, Loxone, KNX (via gateway), and the ACOND HeatUp app at the heat pump.

Manual override dial

A discreet rotary control at the side of the cabinet lets the occupant push fan speed up or down without unlocking the app. Reverts to scheduled behaviour at the next zone command. Useful for guest spaces and short-term lets.

Zone scheduling

Time-of-day temperature programmes per zone, configured at the heat pump's control app. Bedrooms cooler at night. Living areas warm at 6pm. Holiday mode drops the lot to frost protection. Schedules apply equally to heating and to summer cooling.

Heat-pump weather comp

The heat pump's weather compensation reduces flow temperature on mild days. The Freedom Clima's fan boost ramps up to compensate — room output stays stable while system efficiency stays at peak SCOP. Best-of-both: heat pump runs cool, emitter still delivers full output.

Night-silent mode

Disables fan boost entirely between user-defined hours. Unit becomes a passive convector overnight. Useful for bedrooms in noise-sensitive properties. Resumes Dynamic Boost automatically at the morning schedule trigger.

Light / deep cooling toggle

If both cooling profiles are specified at install, the homeowner can select light cooling (no drain) for mild weeks and deep cooling (drain active) for heatwave days. One-tap selection at the heat pump's app. Most installs are specified one or the other and don't need the toggle.

Smart home integration

Standard 0–10 V and dry-contact interfaces integrate cleanly with Loxone, KNX, Crestron, or the ACOND HeatUp app. The unit takes its master signal from whichever orchestrator the building already runs — no proprietary protocol, no orphan ecosystem.

Installation

01 Phone chat 15–30 minutes · free Talk us through your space and your heating setup. Existing emitters, where the cylinder lives, what's on the floor, whether you want light or deep cooling. Send a few photos of the room and the proposed unit position. We'll tell you whether Freedom Clima is the right pick versus a wall-fix Strada Hybrid DBH or a fan-coil Briza, what heat pump pairing makes sense, and an indicative per-unit budget. Quote within 48 hours.
02 Fit day 1 day on site Engineer arrives, runs the on-site checks — floor finish, pipe entry point under the skirting, electrical socket for the 24 V PSU, water hardness reading on the system fill, drain access if deep cooling specified. Flow and return tails terminated under the skirting with isolation valves. Cabinet positioned, flexible hoses connected, 24 V PSU mounted. System refilled, pressure-tested, fans commissioned. Heat-pump changeover signal wired if the pump is on the same visit.
03 How to use 30 minutes · same day We walk you through the app that controls the system, show the manual override dial, demo the light/deep cooling toggle if both profiles are installed, set the night-silent hours, and show you how to relocate the cabinet if you ever rearrange the room. One-page handover card with your installer contact and the next service date. Done.

Components

1 · Freedom cabinet (the unit itself)

Furniture-grade steel cabinet, 580–1,200 mm wide, 700 mm tall, 200 mm deep. Powder-coated steel in any RAL colour, or optional walnut/oak veneer trim. Houses the Low-XC heat exchanger, the DC fan assembly, and the optional drain valve at the base. Sits on a sprung floor base — no fixings into the floor, no fixings into the wall.

2 · Low-XC heat exchanger

Copper-aluminium core with 1.2 L water content — twelve times less than a panel radiator of equivalent output. Same low-thermal-inertia DNA as the Strada range. Heats up fast, cools down fast, modulates cleanly without overshoot. 50-year design life on the body.

3 · DC fan assembly

Three brushless DC tangential fans modulating 0–100%. 24 V DC supply. Mounted along the cabinet base, invisible from above. Replaceable as a service item — slides out from under the cabinet without disturbing the heat exchanger or pipework. Genuine Jaga spare parts available indefinitely.

4 · Flexible pipework + couplings

Two reinforced PEX flexible flow and return hoses emerge from the underside of the cabinet, with isolation valves at both cabinet and floor-outlet ends. Lift the cabinet, close the valves, disconnect the unions — five minutes to relocate. Optional decorative chrome cover sleeves the hoses where they cross open floor.

5 · Optional drain valve + pump

Specified only when deep cooling at 7–12°C is required. A condensate tray at the base of the heat exchanger collects condensation, a tundish trap routes it to a small reservoir, and a low-noise pump lifts it to a discrete floor outlet up to 3 m away. Disabled at the controller for light-cooling installs.

6 · System reversing valve

A 3-way changeover valve at the heat pump's buffer manifold routes flow to the heating loop in winter and to the cooling loop in summer. Specified during the heat pump survey, not at unit level. One valve serves all emitters across the property.

Aftercare

10-year body warranty

Jaga warrants the Freedom Clima cabinet and heat exchanger for ten years from commissioning. Covers the copper-aluminium core, the steel casing, and the powder-coat finish. Conditional on treated system water and a magnetic filter on the heating circuit. Both parts and labour covered.

2-year fan warranty

DC fan motors covered separately for two years. After that the fan unit is a £50-ish service item — slides out from under the cabinet, no specialist tools, swappable in under twenty minutes. Jaga commits to fan-unit availability for the lifetime of the unit.

50-year design life

Jaga publishes a 50-year design life on the Freedom body. Low-water-content design means fewer freeze/expand cycles, less internal corrosion, and far lower mass to fatigue. Belgian-built to a long-life specification rather than a lowest-cost specification.

Quarterly cabinet wipe-over

The only routine maintenance the homeowner does. Wipe the top grille, vacuum the fan inlet at the base once a season. Takes two minutes per unit. If deep cooling is specified, the condensate reservoir is self-emptying — nothing for the homeowner to drain.

Magnetic filter on heating circuit

Catches iron-oxide sludge from old pipework before it reaches the Freedom's narrow copper waterways. Mandatory for Jaga's 10-year warranty when retrofitting onto an existing wet system. Fitted in the plant area during the heat-pump install, serviced annually.

Corrosion inhibitor

Dosed into the system fill water at commissioning. Stops mixed-metal corrosion between the heat pump's stainless components, the Freedom's copper-aluminium core, and any remaining steel pipework. Re-dosed every 5 years as part of CleverBloom's service plan. Warranty-conditional on documented dosing.
