Hot water through the radiator

Hot water from your boiler or heat pump flows through a small heat exchanger inside the casing. Just like a normal radiator — the difference is what surrounds the heat exchanger.

Air flows around the exchanger

Cool air enters through the bottom grille, passes over the warm heat exchanger, and leaves through the top grille. The heat exchanger never gets touched. The casing stays at a safe temperature.

Cool-to-touch casing

Even when the water inside is at 75°C (which can scald in seconds), the outside of the radiator never exceeds 43°C. Safe to lean against. Safe for children to touch. Compliant with NHS guidelines.

Fast heat-up

The Low-H2O heat exchanger contains 90% less water than a steel panel radiator. Less water means faster heat-up. Less wasted energy when you turn the heating up or off.

Works with heat pumps

Older steel radiators need very hot water (65–75°C) to give enough heat. That's inefficient for heat pumps. Guardian LST works well at lower flow temperatures (35–45°C) — ideal for modern air-source or ground-source heat pumps.

Concealed valves and pipes

Pipework connects inside the casing — no exposed hot pipes for anyone to touch or knock. Casing locks come as standard so no one can open it without a key.

Max Surface Temp ≤ 43°C The outside of the radiator never exceeds 43°C even when hot water inside is at 75°C. Safe to lean against.
Compliance NHS HTM NHS Estates HTM (Health Technical Memorandum) compliant. Building Regulations Approved Document M compliant. Suitable for care, healthcare, and schools.
Heat Exchanger Low-H2O Patented Low-H2O design containing 90% less water than a steel panel. Faster heat-up, less energy waste, 10% saving vs steel panel (BRE verified).
Working Pressure 10 bar Tested to 20 bar. Rated for 10 bar working pressure — well above standard UK heating system pressures.
Flow Temperature 35–75°C Works at full output with standard boiler flows (65–75°C). Also works at heat-pump-friendly low flows (35–45°C) when paired with Jaga DBH boost technology.
Install Time 15 min 15 minutes per radiator by a single installer. Half the time of equivalent steel panel LST radiators which need a two-person team.
Variants WT · FT Wall-mounted (WT) or flush-to-floor (FT). Single or twin heat exchanger inside same casing. Casing knock-outs for various TRV positions.
Safety Features Locked · Sealed Rounded corners, chamfered profile, casing locks (standard), allen-key fixings, optional pencil-proof grilles, concealed pipework and valves.
Warranty 30 yr 30-year warranty on the Low-H2O heat exchanger. Casing warranted separately.
Made In Belgium Built by Jaga at their Diepenbeek, Belgium factory. Jaga has made radiators since 1962. Patented Low-H2O technology launched 2000.

Easy controls

The radiator is controlled the same way as any wet-system radiator — via your existing boiler or heat pump and a thermostatic valve.

Thermostatic valve (TRV)

A small dial on the radiator’s pipework controls how much hot water flows through. Set it once for the room temperature you want — the radiator does the rest automatically. The valve sits inside the casing for safety.

Concealed valve option

For care homes and schools, the valve can be locked behind the casing so residents or children can’t change the temperature. Staff have the key.

Smart TRV (optional)

Replace the standard dial with a smart TRV controlled by your phone or central thermostat. Set weekly schedules per room. Pairs with most smart heating systems.

Central thermostat compatible

Works with your existing wall thermostat — Nest, Hive, Tado, or a simple programmer. No special controls needed for Guardian LST specifically.

Pencil-proof grilles

Optional grille upgrade with smaller openings — stops residents in care homes pushing pencils or fingers into the radiator.

CleverBloom can help

If you want help choosing controls or pairing with your existing heating system, the engineer sorts it on the day. Or call us anytime.

Installation

The fastest LST radiator to install in the UK. 15 minutes per radiator by a single installer.

01 Phone chat Free · 20 min Tell us about the property: rooms, current heating, who lives there, whether you have a heat pump or boiler. We size the radiators per room. Written quote in 2 days.
02 Site survey 1-2 hours For care homes, schools, or larger jobs — an engineer walks the site, identifies each radiator location, checks the existing pipework. Final spec agreed.
03 Per-room install 15 min per radiator One installer can fit a Guardian LST in 15 minutes — one-piece lightweight casing, simple bracket fixing, valve connection. No two-person lift, no scaffold, no disruption.
04 System commissioning 2 hours Once all radiators are fitted, the system is bled, balanced, and commissioned. Heat pump or boiler settings adjusted if needed for the new low-water radiators.

Components

What’s inside the Guardian LST — the parts that make a safe, NHS-compliant radiator with a 30-year warranty.

1 · Low-H2O heat exchanger

A small aluminium-and-copper coil — holds 90% less water than a steel panel radiator. Hot water from your boiler or heat pump flows through it. The 30-year warranty covers this part.

2 · One-piece outer casing

Powder-coated steel casing surrounds the heat exchanger. The visible outer surface never exceeds 43°C — safe to lean against. Available in white, sandblast grey, or off-black as standard. Lightweight enough for a single installer.

3 · Rounded corners

The casing has rounded edges and a chamfered profile — no sharp corners. Designed specifically for healthcare and care-home environments where residents and patients may bump into furniture.

4 · Casing locks (standard)

The front panel is locked to the wall bracket with allen-key fixings. Stops residents, patients, or children from opening the casing. Standard on every Guardian LST.

5 · Top grille

Warm air leaves the radiator through the top grille. Optional pencil-proof version with smaller holes is available for care homes and schools — stops curious fingers or objects entering the casing.

6 · Concealed valves and pipework

The valves and pipes that connect to your heating system are hidden inside the casing — no exposed hot pipes for anyone to touch or knock. TRV optional on the valve for room-temperature control.

7 · Wall brackets

Two lightweight steel brackets fix to the wall. The casing then slides on and locks. One installer can fit it in 15 minutes — half the time of equivalent steel-panel LST radiators.

8 · CleverBloom can help

For care homes, schools, or NHS settings, we specify the right Guardian LST configuration (with or without pencil-proof grille, with or without TRV lock) during the site survey.

Looking after it

Guardian LST is designed for commercial-grade duty cycles. Almost nothing to maintain.

30-year heat-exchanger warranty

The Low-H2O heat exchanger inside the radiator is warranted for 30 years — one of the longest in the UK heating industry. Most boilers will need replacing several times in that period.

Built in Belgium

Made by Jaga at their Diepenbeek, Belgium factory. Jaga has been building radiators since 1962. The Low-H2O exchanger is their patented design.

Wipe clean

Powder-coated casing wipes clean with a soft damp cloth. The casing locks let staff open the radiator for inside cleaning if dust builds up over years.

No bleeding service

The radiator is bled once at install and stays balanced. No annual bleeding routine for housekeeping staff to remember.

Service plan available

For multi-unit installations in care homes or schools, CleverBloom offers annual maintenance contracts covering all radiators on one visit.

No VAT on the install

UK government has removed VAT on heating installs until March 2027 when paired with energy-saving systems like heat pumps. CleverBloom handles the paperwork.
