Pool hall air is drawn through the unit by an internal fan. It passes over a cold evaporator coil where moisture condenses out of the air and drips into a collection tray. The dry air then passes over a hot condenser coil — re-warming before being returned to the pool hall. The result is consistent humidity control (typically 55–65% RH target) plus free heating from the heat recovery side of the cycle.
DRY 400 Metal recovers up to 1,900 W of heat from the dehumidification process — using the warm condenser to pre-heat air before it returns to the pool hall. Power consumption is approximately 800 W. The unit dehumidifies and contributes to pool hall heating simultaneously — particularly valuable for indoor pools where heating costs run year-round. Energy efficiency is 0.412 kWh per litre of moisture extracted.
Pool air carries chlorine vapour, salt aerosols, and other aggressive substances that corrode standard heat exchanger materials within years. DRY 400 Metal uses anodised aluminium fins coated with GoldFin epoxy finish, paired with zinc-coated copper refrigerant pipes. All other metal parts are galvanised + powder coated; stainless steel and titanium used where required. The corrosion protection is engineered specifically for chlorine and salt environments.
DRY 400 Metal can supply fresh air at up to 30% of nominal airflow (~180 m³/h) through an optional adapter. Fresh air enters the unit before the condenser, where it's pre-heated by the warm coil before entering the pool hall. This adds ventilation function on top of dehumidification — useful for indoor pools where natural ventilation is limited. The pre-heating means cold outdoor air doesn't shock the pool environment.
DRY 400 Metal can be specified with the microLIGHT+ LED feedback band — a unique Microwell feature that translates current humidity into colour. Blue indicates low humidity, green is the ideal 55–65% RH band, red signals high humidity. Pool users get instant visual feedback on climate without reading a screen. The LED band sits on the front of the unit and is visible across the pool hall.
DRY 400 Metal ships with a built-in digital touch controller, WiFi for remote monitoring via the Microwell app, and RS485 Modbus for BMS integration. Optional add-ons include the DRY EASY 300 wireless remote thermostat/humidistat with WiFi, or the Eberle wired humidistat for traditional installs. The unit also supports microSAFETY+ — automatic supervision system that monitors operation continuously and flags issues via error codes.
DRY 400 Metal includes a built-in digital touch controller as standard, with WiFi and RS485 Modbus on every unit. Optional accessories extend control to wireless remote thermostats, hard-wired humidistats, and microLIGHT+ visual humidity feedback. Designed for both standalone pool hall control and BMS integration in commercial wellness scopes.
Built-in digital touch controller
Integrated controller on the front of the unit — set humidity target, monitor extraction, view system status, configure schedules. RS485 Modbus and WiFi standard on every unit. Intuitive interface designed for pool owners, not just engineers.
Modbus RTU + RS-485
Standard on every unit. Serial bus integration with BMS systems via Modbus protocol — typical for office, school and retail fit-outs where ventilation needs to coordinate with heating, lighting, and access control.
WiFi + Microwell app
WiFi standard on every DRY 400 Metal — connects to the Microwell mobile app for remote monitoring, humidity setpoint adjustment, schedule control, and alert notifications. Owner-friendly setup; engineer-level access for service technicians via separate login.
Eberle remote humidistat option
Optional EBERLE HYG6001 wired remote humidistat with built-in touch controller (£120 add-on), or HYG7001 with thermostat too (£140). Useful where the dehumidifier is wall-mounted high up but the user wants control at hand height. Hard-wired alternative to WiFi for installs without reliable WiFi coverage.
DRY EASY 300 wireless remote
Optional Microwell DRY EASY 300 wireless humidistat + thermostat (£345 add-on) with built-in touch controller, WiFi, and RS-485 Modbus. Battery-powered remote head — mount it anywhere in the pool hall. Most popular control upgrade for high-end residential and hotel scopes.
microSAFETY+ supervision
Microwell's continuous self-monitoring system — included as standard on every DRY pool dehumidifier. Tracks compressor health, fan operation, refrigerant pressure, defrost cycles, drain status. Attempts automatic corrective action on minor faults; flags error codes via the controller and app on more serious issues.
Defrost + low-temp operation
Operating range +9°C to +42°C. Active demand-controlled defrost — the unit recognises when ice forms on the evaporator and triggers a defrost cycle automatically. Important for pool halls that drop in temperature overnight or during low-occupancy periods. Performance maintained at 5°C/80% RH (~28 L/day extraction).
DRY contact + boiler control
Auxiliary DRY contact for external automation — turn off when pool is covered, run boost when occupied, interlock with pool cover position sensor. Boiler control output for the optional LPHW heating coil. PV-ready connection for solar-driven operation. All standard on every DRY 400 Metal.
DRY 400 Metal is a wall-mounted dehumidifier — much simpler scope than commercial AHU territory. Typically 1–2 days on site for installation and commissioning, plus 2–4 weeks lead time from Microwell's Slovak factory. Best specified during pool fit-out so electrical and condensate routing can be incorporated cleanly.
DRY 400 Metal sits in the middle of the Microwell DRY range — the right pick for domestic indoor pools and small commercial wellness scopes up to 45 m² water surface. Other DRY models scale up or down. All variants share the same control system, warranty terms, and corrosion-protection architecture.
DRY 400 Metal — anchor configuration
Up to 45 m² water surface. 48 L/day at 30°C/60% RH (78 L/day max at 35°C/80% RH). 600 m³/h airflow. 800 W average power. 1,900 W heat recovery. Aluminium casing (RAL9010 white standard). Wall-mounted on console. Single-phase 230V.
Casing options — Metal / Silver
Metal/Alu (this configuration) uses an aluminium casing — lighter, higher corrosion resistance, RAL9010 white standard. Silver variant uses stainless steel — premium finish, ideal for high-end residential pools where the unit is visible. Wave plastic option also available for budget-conscious installs.
Heating add-ons (LPHW or electric)
Optional heating coil to supplement the 1,900 W heat recovery. LPHW (Low Pressure Hot Water) 3.5 kW from boiler or heat pump — £228 unregulated, £442 with solenoid valve. Electric heating 2 kW — £490 add-on. Most domestic pools don't need this; commercial wellness installs often do.
Installation type — wall / floor / through-wall
Wall console (this configuration) — standard. Mobile floor stand with 4 wheels (£235) for non-fixed installs. Through-the-wall variant (DRY 400 Duct/TTW) for plant-room installs with grilles in the pool hall — cleaner aesthetic.
microLIGHT+ Pool Security upgrade
Upgrade from standard microLIGHT+ to Pool Security version (£140). Adds protective alerts when humidity strays outside healthy range — protects building fabric from condensation damage. Recommended for second-home or holiday-let pools where the owner is not on site daily.
Fresh air supply adapter
Optional galvanised duct adapter (Ø100 mm, 50 mm length) for fresh air connection — £35. Brings up to 30% nominal airflow as fresh outdoor air, preheated by the condenser. Useful for hotels and wellness centres where fresh air rates matter for bathing comfort.
Step down — DRY 300 (up to 30 m²)
For hot tubs, swim spas, plunge pools, or smaller domestic pools up to 30 m² water surface. 36 L/day extraction at typical pool conditions. 700 W average power. Same warranty, same control architecture, same corrosion protection. Quote on request — sized to project.
Step up — DRY 500 / 800 / 1200
DRY 500 covers up to 60 m² (medium pools); DRY 800 up to 80 m² (commercial wellness); DRY 1200 up to 120 m² (large commercial). DRY SIREN ceiling-mounted split unit also available for up to 120 m² — 360° air dispersion. All POA — sized to project at quote.
Indoor pool dehumidifiers run nearly continuously — service expectations are different from typical HVAC kit. Microwell DRY 400 is engineered for long service life in aggressive pool conditions, with one of the strongest warranty packages on the market and components designed for periodic owner-level cleaning rather than specialist call-outs.
5-year compressor warranty
Microwell provides a 5-year compressor warranty as standard — the heart of the dehumidifier protected for the typical replacement cycle of pool equipment. Plus 3-year spare parts coverage and a lifetime warranty on the condensing tray. Backed by Microwell's 34 years of business experience and ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 accreditation.
Lifetime condensing tray
The condensing tray collects water as it condenses on the cold evaporator coil — the part most exposed to chlorinated water and aggressive pool chemistry. Microwell warrants this part for the lifetime of the unit. Underpinned by stainless steel / titanium construction in the most aggressive areas, and powder coating elsewhere.
Filter — annual check
Standard washable filter on the air intake. Annual visual check, wash with mild detergent if dust loading is visible. Optional upgraded F-class filter (£52) for installations where pool hall dust loading is high — gym areas, public pools, hotel lobbies. Field-replaceable in minutes via the front access panel.
GoldFin coil inspection
Annual visual inspection of the evaporator and condenser coils — confirm GoldFin epoxy coating intact, no debris obstructing fin spacing, no signs of zinc-coating damage on copper pipework. Wash with low-pressure water if visibly dirty. Don't use chlorinated cleaning agents — pool chemistry is already aggressive enough.
Condensate drain check
Quarterly visual check of condensate drain — confirm free-flowing, no standing water in the tray, trap maintained. Common failure mode is drain blockage by debris or biofilm — easy to spot, easy to clear. CleverBloom service plan includes drain inspection on every visit.
CleverBloom pool service plan
For domestic indoor pools, hotels, and commercial wellness clients, CleverBloom offers scheduled service contracts: annual filter check and clean, coil inspection, drain check, condensing tray inspection, microLIGHT+ calibration, BMS integration verification. Quoted per project based on pool size, access, and SLA requirements.
