UNDER-BATH HEAT RECOVERY · HORIZONTAL DESIGN
A horizontal heat exchanger that fits under a bath or shower tray. Recovers heat from outgoing shower water to pre-warm the cold water coming in — with no need for vertical floor space.
Cuts shower-heating cost ~25%

RECOUP ENERGY SOLUTIONS
Two copper pipes, one inside the other, laid horizontally. Waste shower water flows along the outer pipe; cold mains water flows along the inner pipe. The two streams never mix — they exchange heat through the copper wall.
A normal shower throws away water at ~38°C straight to the drain. Easyfit+ catches that heat on the way out and uses it to pre-warm the cold mains water on the way in. Same shower, less work for the boiler or immersion.
Most British baths have around 100 mm of clearance underneath. At 90 mm tall, Easyfit+ slides into that space without raising the bath. That's the headline difference from vertical units — you don't need to find space below the floor.
As soon as warm water flows down the drain, the inner pipe starts delivering preheated water to the shower's cold input. The longer the shower, the more heat recovered. No warm-up time, no electrics, no controls.
If your shower is on the ground floor, or in a bungalow, or in any building without a floor void below it, vertical heat-recovery units don't fit. Easyfit+ does — horizontal design solves the geometry problem.
Easyfit+ is recognised in SAP — the government's building energy assessment. Specifying it can help a building meet current Building Regulations Part L. Common in apartment new-builds, hotels, and care homes.
Easyfit+ installs horizontally under the bath or shower tray, replacing the standard waste pipe. Best fitted at first-fix in new builds, but retrofittable when the bath is being replaced.
What’s inside the Recoup Easyfit — a low-profile horizontal heat-recovery unit designed to fit where a vertical drain heat-recovery unit won’t.
1 · Horizontal copper tube
A short horizontal copper tube houses the heat-recovery exchanger. Just 90 mm deep — fits under most baths, behind a sink unit, or in a service void. No tall vertical run needed.
2 · Inner heat-exchanger coil
Cold mains water flows through a coil inside the unit. The coil is positioned where the warm shower waste flows over it. Heat transfers through the copper to the cold mains water as it passes through.
3 · Cross-flow design
Because it's horizontal, the Easyfit uses a cross-flow design rather than counter-flow. Less efficient than vertical units (47% vs 70% recovery) but it works where vertical units physically can’t fit.
4 · Standard plumbing connections
15 mm copper push-fit or compression fittings for the cold-water in and pre-warmed out. Standard 40 mm waste-pipe connections for the shower waste. Uses normal UK plumbing parts.
5 · No moving parts
Same as the vertical units — nothing inside moves. No pumps, no valves, no electronics. Pure conduction through copper. No power needed.
6 · Self-cleaning flow
The shower waste flow itself keeps the inside clean. No filter to change, no descaling needed. Works the same on day 1 and day 7,300.
7 · Mounting clips
Two clips fix the unit to floor joists or wall framing. Sits below the shower tray or bath. Service access can be built into the bath panel or under-sink unit if needed.
8 · CleverBloom can help
If your floor plan doesn’t suit a vertical Showersave, the Recoup Easyfit usually does — we’ll confirm during the design phase based on the bathroom layout and pipework access.
A passive heat exchanger has very little to go wrong. The unit lives under the bath or tray, hidden from view, doing its job quietly every time anyone showers.
2-year manufacturer warranty
Recoup Energy Solutions warrants the unit for 2 years against defects. Real-world product life is far longer — copper plumbing typically lasts decades when fitted correctly.
No annual service
No filters, no electronics, no pumps to wear out. Once tested at install, the unit needs no further attention. Will last for the life of the bathroom plumbing it's connected to.
Hidden under the bath
Once installed, the unit sits under the bath panel. Homeowners never see it or interact with it. The only sign it's working is the lower hot-water bills.
No legionella risk
The cold and waste streams never mix — they are separated by a copper wall. Cold mains water passes through quickly with no stagnation, so no legionella risk. WRAS-approved.
No water-quality issues
Easyfit+ preheats incoming cold water using a separate copper pipe — the water you shower in is fresh mains water, just warmer. No contamination, no taste, no smell.
UK manufacturer support
Recoup Energy Solutions is a UK manufacturer. Technical support, warranty handling, and spare-part supply are all UK-based. CleverBloom handles design specification and project coordination.
Heat pump unit only. Radiators, UFH, and emitters are on the heating page.
