UK MAKER, UK SUPPORT
Inside the unit is a special material made from salts — not water. When you put heat into it, the salt softens (melts at a fixed temperature). When you take heat out, the salt sets again. The temperature stays steady the whole time, like an ice pack in reverse.
Salt holds about four times more heat per litre than water does. A Thermino e210 stores roughly the same amount of usable hot water as an old 210–litre cylinder — in less than a quarter of the space.
An immersion heater, a heat pump, a gas boiler, or surplus electricity from rooftop solar — whatever you have. Most homes charge it overnight on cheap electricity, then draw hot water all day.
The unit is heavily insulated, so very little heat leaks out. An old 210-litre cylinder loses about 1.3–3.3 kWh of heat every day just sitting there. Thermino loses less than a quarter of that. Less waste, lower bills.
The mains water passes through a small heat exchanger inside the unit — less than 15 litres of water is in there at any time. That's too small for legionella to be a problem, so no scheduled overheating cycle is needed.
If you have rooftop PV, the Thermino can divert surplus solar electricity to charge itself during the day — storing afternoon sun for the evening shower. The diverter integrates with most major PV installations.
A smart controller schedules charging on cheap-rate tariffs, prioritises your solar PV, and runs anti-legionella checks — without you having to think about it.
Sunamp app · iOS / Android
Monitor charge level (like a phone battery for hot water), see today’s energy use, override schedules manually. Set it up once during install — rarely needed after that.
Off-peak tariff scheduling
The controller charges the salt block during the cheapest time of night — pairs naturally with Octopus Go, Cosy, Agile, or any time-of-use tariff. Saves about £120-170 per year on hot water alone.
Solar PV priority
If you have rooftop solar, the controller diverts surplus generation into the Thermino during the day. Free hot water on sunny days — cheap-rate as backup on dull ones.
Anti-legionella cycle
Runs an automatic high-temperature flush periodically. The salt block can reach the sterilising temperatures required by HSE guidance without you doing anything.
Boost button
On the unit itself or via the app — force a top-up charge if you’re expecting unusual demand (guests staying, large bath running). Standard scheduling resumes after.
CleverBloom can help
Setting up the right tariff schedule, matching it to your solar PV, and integrating with a heat pump (xPlus / TS variants) is a quick conversation at install — or any time after.
Thermino fits in tighter spaces than a hot-water cylinder. Lead time about 4 weeks from order. Any qualified plumber and electrician can install it — no specialist certification needed.
What’s inside the Thermino — the parts that turn cheap electricity into hot water on demand, in a quarter the space of a cylinder.
1 · Salt-block core
A sealed block of phase-change material — the patented Sunamp technology. Holds about four times more heat per litre than water. Melts when charging, sets when discharging, temperature stays steady throughout.
2 · Mains-pressure DHW exchanger
A stainless steel coil running through the salt block. Cold mains water flows through the coil on demand — comes out hot at the tap. No stored hot water, no legionella risk. Less than 15 litres of water inside the unit at any moment.
3 · Electric immersion element
Heats the salt block from electricity — off-peak overnight, solar PV during the day, or top-up boost. Same electrical principle as an immersion heater in a regular cylinder, just heating salt instead of water.
4 · Insulation jacket
High-spec foam insulation surrounds the salt block. Holds the stored heat for days with minimal loss — about £120–170 per year saved compared to a cylinder of the same capacity standing in the same room.
5 · Smart control board
Onboard control schedules charging on cheap-rate tariffs (Octopus Go, Cosy, Agile), prioritises solar PV when available, and runs anti-legionella checks. Connects to home Wi-Fi for app monitoring.
6 · Wall-mounting brackets
Heavy-duty steel brackets fix the unit to a load-bearing wall — the Thermino is small enough to mount on a wall (utility room, kitchen, hall cupboard). No floor stand needed in most installs.
7 · Optional heat-pump input
Some Thermino variants (Thermino xPlus, Thermino TS) accept a heat-pump charging input as well — allowing the salt block to be heated by a heat pump in winter and by PV in summer. The standard ePlus is direct-electric only.
8 · CleverBloom can help
Picking the right Thermino variant (ePlus, xPlus, or TS) and sizing it for your hot-water demand is a design decision — we work through it during the site visit.
Thermino is sealed for life — no descaling, no anode replacement, no annual flushing. The salt material doesn't degrade with use. Annual visual check during the heating-system service is enough.
10-year manufacturer warranty
Sunamp's standard warranty for the Thermino e-series. The salt material has been tested to over 40,000 charge cycles, equating to ~25–40 years of normal household use without measurable degradation.
No legionella, no descaling
Less than 15 litres of mains water flows through the heat exchanger at any time, so legionella has no chance to grow. There's no large tank of stagnant water to descale or treat. The salt core never needs servicing.
Sealed unit
The salt material is sealed inside the unit. There's no top-up, no inhibitor, no anode. The heat-exchanger water side gets a magnetic filter on the heating circuit (good practice for any system).
Smart-controller updates
The Thermino's controller can be paired with the Sunamp app for monitoring and schedule adjustment. Firmware updates roll out over the air — the homeowner doesn't need to do anything.
Hidden, no homeowner action
Once installed, the unit lives in its cupboard. Apart from checking the controller display occasionally, the homeowner never interacts with it. It's a fit-and-forget device.
UK manufacturer support
Sunamp is a UK company based in Scotland. Technical support, warranty, and spares all from the UK — no import delays. CleverBloom handles design specification and project coordination.
Heat pump unit only. Radiators, UFH, and emitters are on the heating page.
