A single Topvex SC35-R-B serves a hygiene-conscious commercial space — school, daycare, dental clinic, GP surgery, fitness studio, office. Filtered fresh air is supplied to occupied zones via a duct distribution system; stale air is extracted from kitchens, toilets, treatment rooms. EC plug fans run continuously to maintain balanced pressure. 3,150 m³/h on this configuration — adjustable to project at quote.
The defining architectural choice. Supply and extract air streams pass each other in opposite directions across solid plates, transferring heat across the plate material without ever mixing. Result: zero cross-contamination, 87.9% heat recovery efficiency (EN 308 wet), 1% internal leakage measured. Recuperative heat exchanger — different from rotary regenerative units.
SC35-R-B SKU includes F7 supply (ISO ePM1 60%) and M5 extract (ISO ePM10 60%) filters as standard — bundled into the unit price, not separate accessories. Eurovent certified. Filter monitoring via pressure transmitters with airflow-adjusted setpoint — controller alerts when pressure drop indicates change is due. DELTRI+ virucidal upgrade or HEPA H13/H14 available for hygiene-critical scopes.
Counter-flow plate exchangers produce condensate when warm humid extract air meets the cooler plate surface — water needs to drain. The SC35-R-B has an integrated condensate drain pan with R½ connection. Plant location must accommodate drain routing to existing waste pipework. This is the architectural trade-off vs rotary AHUs (which transfer moisture and need no drain).
Two electronically commutated (EC) plug fans, 15–20% lower energy consumption than equivalent AC asynchronous motors. CAV (Constant Air Volume) cascaded extract control standard; VAV optional. Total power consumption 1.64 kW — meaningfully lower than rotary AHUs at the same airflow. Real heating-cost saving over building life.
Optional add-ons at order: EL (electric reheater), HW (hot water coil — for buildings with heat pump or boiler hot water available). Cooling coils: water (CWK / PGK series) or DX (DXRE series) for active summer cooling. SC35-R-B base configuration has no integrated reheater — added separately. Specified at design stage based on building's heating/cooling strategy.
Topvex SC35-R-B ships with the Access control system — NaviPad touchscreen plus full BMS-grade communications. Designed for facility management at scale, with TCP/IP, Modbus, and BACnet integration as standard. CU27-C2 WiFi control unit with 27 physical I/Os.
NaviPad touchscreen
HTML5-based intuitive UI on a flat colour touchscreen, connected via 3 m flat cable. Mounts on the unit or on the wall — easy to detach for handheld use during commissioning. Real-time operating data, settable per project, custom labels for unit/alarms/components.
Modbus RTU + RS-485
Standard on every unit. Serial bus integration with BMS systems via Modbus protocol — typical for office, school and retail fit-outs where ventilation needs to coordinate with heating, lighting, and access control.
BACnet/IP + TCP/IP
BACnet over IP standard — the protocol most commercial BMS systems prefer. Plus direct TCP/IP web server access for browser-based monitoring without additional software. Multi-device monitoring across a local network of Topvex AHUs from one dashboard.
CAV / VAV airflow control
Constant Air Volume standard — fans hold a fixed airflow regardless of filter condition. Variable Air Volume optional — constant duct pressure control, useful where downstream zone dampers vary the building's actual demand (multi-room offices, schools with varied occupancy patterns).
Free cooling + cool recovery
Built-in energy-saving features: when outdoor air is cooler than indoor on a summer evening, free cooling pulls outdoor air directly through bypass dampers. Cool recovery transfers coolness from extract to supply on hot days when outdoor air is warmer than the conditioned space.
Pressure-based filter monitoring
Filter status detected by pressure transmitters with airflow-adjusted setpoint — not a simple time-based timer. Means the controller flags filter change exactly when needed, not on an arbitrary schedule. Useful for variable-occupancy buildings where filter loading rate varies.
Sensor inputs (CO₂ / humidity / temp)
Multiple analog and digital inputs for external sensors. CO₂-driven control standard for occupancy zones; humidity for changing-rooms or kitchens; temperature for night setback, free cooling activation, and frost protection on hot water coil systems.
External electrical cabinet
Topvex SC has a separate electrical cabinet with all cable connections collected at one place — facilitates commissioning and service without opening the AHU itself. RJ-45 quick connector for the NaviPad and external HMI.
Topvex SC35-R-B is commercial AHU territory — significantly bigger scope than residential MVHR. Typically 5–10 days on site for a single SC unit deployment, plus 2–4 weeks design lead-time. Best specified at first-fix stage of a new fit-out, refurbishment, or commercial newbuild.
SC35-R-B is a 3,150 m³/h side-connected counter-flow AHU configuration. The Topvex SC family extends from smaller sizes (~700 m³/h) up to SC100 (~7,400 m³/h) — sizing adjusted to project airflow at quote stage.
SC35-R-B configuration
3,150 m³/h supply + extract @ 115 Pa. R-hand variant, B casing. Single-phase 230V, 20A, 1.64 kW. F7 supply + M5 extract integrated. 87.9% heat recovery (EN 308 wet). 408 kg. Article 460103. £15,000 ex VAT equipment package.
Adjust airflow up — SC50 to SC100
For larger commercial scopes — large schools, healthcare facilities, supermarkets, large offices. Topvex SC50 (~5,000 m³/h) and above up to SC100 (~7,400 m³/h). Quote-on-request — sized to project brief, lead times 6–8 weeks.
Adjust airflow down — SC02 to SC25
For smaller commercial scopes — small clinics, dental practices, GP surgeries, small daycare facilities. Topvex SC02 through SC25 (~700 to 2,500 m³/h). Quote-on-request — sized to project airflow.
L or R hand variant
R (Right) on this configuration — refers to which side the supply air emerges from when viewed from the access side. L variant available for opposite-hand layouts. Selected from building services drawings; affects duct connection geometry, not performance.
Heater options
No integrated reheater on the SC35-R-B base configuration (the "N" in the SKU code). Optional add-ons: EL (electric reheater), HW (hot water coil) — for buildings with heat pump or boiler hot water available. Or add downstream coil from a separate supply.
CAV or VAV airflow control
CAV (Constant Air Volume) cascaded extract control on this SC35-R-B configuration. VAV (Variable Air Volume with constant duct pressure) optional — better for buildings with zone dampers and varied occupancy patterns. Selected at order, not field-changeable.
Condensate drain required
Counter-flow plate exchangers produce condensate when warm humid extract air meets the cooler plate — drain pan with R½ connection integrated. Plant location must accommodate routing to existing waste pipework. This is the trade-off vs rotary AHUs which transfer moisture and need no drain.
Acoustic silencers
Required for occupied office, school, retail, healthcare and fitness scopes per BB93 / BS 8233 acoustic standards. Silencers fitted on supply and extract sides reduce duct-borne noise to occupied-space targets. Specified per project — not included in base equipment.
Commercial AHUs serve buildings that depend on them — service downtime is operationally costly. Topvex SC35-R-B is engineered for predictable, scheduled servicing with large inspection access, removable plate exchanger, and pressure-based filter monitoring that flags change exactly when needed.
2-year manufacturer warranty
Systemair provides a 2-year manufacturer warranty on the unit as standard. Built to Eurovent certification, EN 1886 casing performance, and full ErP compliance. Mature platform — Topvex SC has been Systemair's side-connected commercial AHU range for over a decade.
Pressure-based filter monitoring
F7 + M5 filters changed when pressure transmitters indicate (not on a fixed timer). Typically every 6–12 months depending on outdoor air quality and occupancy density. Filter sets sized to unit; replacement filter pricing scales with unit size — confirmed at quote.
Removable plate exchanger
The counter-flow plate exchanger lifts out for cleaning when needed (typically every 3–5 years or sooner if airflow performance drops). Wash with mild detergent and rinse — no ammonia products. Plate weight on SC35 is a two-person lift. Far simpler servicing than rotary alternatives — no drive belts, no rotation seals, no rotor motor.
Condensate drain maintenance
Annual visual inspection of the condensate drain pan and R½ outlet to ensure free-flowing water removal. Drain pan should be clear of debris and standing water. Trap should be filled to prevent foul air ingress. CleverBloom service plan includes drain inspection as standard.
Large inspection access
Full service access from the front — main components (plate exchanger, fans, filters, heater) all reachable without dismantling adjacent ductwork. Doors open with a 16 mm key (supplied with unit).
CleverBloom commercial service plan
For office, school, retail, healthcare and HMO clients, CleverBloom offers scheduled service contracts: filter changes, plate exchanger inspection, condensate drain check, flow rate verification with calibrated anemometer, sensor recalibration, and BMS handshake testing. Quoted per project based on building size and access.
Heat pump unit only. Radiators, UFH, and emitters are on the heating page.
