No, the recuperator helps to maintain a comfortable temperature in the room without losing heat through open windows. During winter and cold periods, heating is used, ensuring that the air supplied is of a comfortable temperature.
The household PRANA recuperator connects to a standard 200V 50Hz power grid and consumes from 4 to 91W*h, depending on the selected speed and operating mode. Traditional ventilation by opening windows wastes more than 30% of heat during the heating period. In the hot season, opening windows quickly heats the air in the room, increasing the energy consumption of the air conditioner by up to 80%.
Ventilation with recuperation saves up to 96% of energy resources related to room ventilation without opening windows and losing heat/coolness. In the copper heat exchanger, there is an inter-channel transfer of the exhaust air temperature to the incoming fresh air. As a result, outdoor air is supplied to the room at a comfortable temperature, requiring no additional heating or cooling.
For example, the Prana 160 in mode 1 provides an air exchange of 5m³/h of both supply and exhaust. In mode 2 – 14m³/h, in mode 3 – 21m³/h, in mode 4 – 32m³/h, in mode 5 – 52m³/h, and Boost mode – 70m³/h. In the first speed mode and also in Night mode, the system consumes from 3.2Wh. When the heating elements in the system are turned on and the Boost mode is working, consumption can reach 74Wh. The system is quite quiet, with noise at a distance of 3 meters being 8 dBA, and at the 4th speed, it will be 36dBA. The heat retention coefficient is 98%, meaning we do not lose heat in the room, thus saving on heating costs. The Prana 210G/210C systems operate on the same principle.
Depending on your room and the number of people in it, you select the recuperator. Rooms up to 25m² can be fitted with one Prana 160 system. For areas from 25 to 30m², one Prana 210G system is sufficient. For areas from 30 to 40m², one Prana 210C system is suitable.
Another important factor when selecting a recuperator is the ceiling height, the number of people simultaneously in the room, and the purpose of the room.
The system has a noise level of 8 dB at a distance of 3 meters. This noise level is comfortable for a person in the first two operating modes. For nighttime, you can use the "Night mode."
Yes. With the recuperator cover open and the motors turned off, there is uncontrolled air movement depending on the influence of other ventilation systems, the season, wind speed, etc. This operating mode is called passive.
For comfortable and safe operation of the recuperator in the winter period, it is recommended to use the "Winter mode" and "Mini-heating." With proper use, the PRANA ventilation system can be used in a temperature range from -30 to +50°C.
If there are already visible signs of mold and mildew in the room, they must first be removed mechanically. PRANA recuperators eliminate the main causes of mold appearance – excessive humidity and air stagnation in the room. Effective air exchange significantly reduces the number of mold spores in the air, preventing its reappearance.
The system can be controlled using the remote control included with each system or via the PranaOnline2.0 mobile application by connecting through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
The recuperator should be cleaned 1-2 times a year to maintain the warranty and proper system operation. If your system has a filter, it should be cleaned or replaced as it gets dirty. You will be informed about this by a triangle icon in the mobile application or on the recuperator's screen.
During daily activities, humans constantly release moisture: through breathing, hygiene activities, wet cleaning, laundry. The recuperator ensures the effective removal of used moist air from rooms, positively affecting the overall humidity of the room. If you have high humidity or live near the sea, we recommend using a dehumidifier as the effect will be even better when paired with a recuperator.
Yes! While MVHR is most efficient in airtight properties (<5m³/(h.m²) @50Pa), the Prana ERP PRO works effectively at all airtightness levels. For older, less airtight properties, you'll still benefit from improved air quality, moisture control, and some heat recovery - just with slightly reduced efficiency. We offer a free survey to assess suitability.
Absolutely! You can open windows anytime. However, the system works most efficiently with windows closed. Many customers find they rarely need to open windows since the Prana ERP PRO provides continuous fresh air. The summer bypass mode prevents overheating without window opening.
The Prana ERP PRO costs approximately £30-50 per year to run (based on continuous low-speed operation). However, you'll save hundreds of pounds annually on heating bills by recovering 90% of heat that would otherwise be lost through ventilation.
Minimal! Simply replace filters every 6-12 months (depending on air quality) and wipe down air valves occasionally. Annual professional servicing is recommended but not essential. Filters cost approximately £50-80 per year.
Yes! The Prana ERP PRO is fully compatible with air source and ground source heat pumps. It's actually recommended as part of the Future Homes Standard 2025 for heat pump installations, as it dramatically reduces the heating demand.
Decentralised units like PRANA ERP PRO maintain full ceiling height (centralised loses 30cm everywhere), run whisper-quiet at 8 dB (centralised: constant 40 dB hum 32x louder), cost £2,130 over 10 years vs £4,140 for centralised, include per-room CO₂/humidity/VOC/temp sensors with app control (centralised: no sensors, manual whole-house switch only), and require no ductwork maintenance—while popular UK centralised systems (Nuaire, Vent-Axia, Zehnder) sacrifice a bedroom's worth of space, create 60 meters of dust-collecting ducts needing expensive cleaning, and cost double to run with zero smart control.
