How Does the Prana ERP PRO Work?

MVHR stands for Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery. The Prana ERP PRO extracts moist and stale air from wet rooms in your home (bathrooms, kitchens, utility rooms) and recovers the usually lost heat from the extracted air.
It then supplies clean, filtered fresh air that is warmed using the recovered heat from the extracted air, ensuring your home stays warm while continuously ventilated - all while using minimal energy.
The Prana ERP PRO isNOT a heating system. It works in conjunction with your existing heating (radiators, underfloor heating, or heat pumps), capturing the warmth already in your home and recycling it, rather than being a heat source itself.
By removing contaminated air, ventilation systems help to normalize humidity. This prolongs the life of the renovation. Constant air exchange also reduces the amount of dust that accumulates on surfaces in the room.
Extract Stale Air

Extracts moisture-laden air from wet rooms at ceiling level (bathrooms, kitchens, utility rooms)

Recover Heat

Captures up to 90% of heat from extracted air using high-efficiency heat exchange cell

Filter Fresh Air

Draws in fresh outdoor air through  filter G4, removing pollen, dust & pollutants

Supply Warm Air

Distributes filtered, warmed air to habitable rooms (bedrooms, living rooms) continuously

How does the Prana
Heat Exchanger freshen the air?

If you want to breathe fresh air at all times, you need a ventilation system. It is a set of devices and equipment that together provide the functions necessary for quality air exchange:
1. Removing contaminated air from the room.
2. Supply of fresh air from the outside.
In the process of the former, the space is cleaned of pollutants. Specifically, dust, carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds and excessive moisture resulting from household activities. For example, cooking, showering, and even human breathing.
By removing contaminated air, ventilation systems help to normalize humidity. This prolongs the life of the renovation. Constant air exchange also reduces the amount of dust that accumulates on surfaces in the room.

Customer Reviews

"Clever Bloom installed three Prana units at one of our partner shops that handles transportation operations, with an adjacent lab that had been struggling with humidity and ventilation issues. During the winter, opening windows made the lab cold and uncomfortable to work in. Their smart heat exchangers were in fact great solution. The team did an excellent job with the installation, and within a week, the difference was clear—no more condensation on windows, and the air quality was significantly improved. Recommend!"

Constantine Gurnov

“Clever Bloom Company recently installed 2 Prana units in my clinic, and the results have been remarkable. Being an older lower-ground property with limited ventilation, the air quality was previously less than ideal. However, the device has made a significant improvement, and even my patients have noticed the difference. Highly recommend!”

Dr. Lana Vaitovich

“Viktor and his team were great. They installed the units in a single day, they cleanup as they were working, kept me updated on their progress, and were very helpful in explaining how they work. We had two units installed, we are enjoying the clean fresh air and are extremely happy with the performance of the units. We were able to get the units perfectly setup the way we wanted with schedules. The auto functions are a life saver!.”

Does the Prana Heat Exchanger/Heat recovery unit  Replace Heating in the Room?

arrow

No, the recuperator helps to maintain a comfortable temperature in the room without losing heat through open windows. During winter and cold periods, heating is used, ensuring that the air supplied is of a comfortable temperature.

How Much Electricity Does One System Consume?
Are Prana Heat Exchangers/Heat recovery unit  Energy-Saving?

arrow

The household PRANA recuperator connects to a standard 200V 50Hz power grid and consumes from 4 to 91W*h, depending on the selected speed and operating mode. Traditional ventilation by opening windows wastes more than 30% of heat during the heating period. In the hot season, opening windows quickly heats the air in the room, increasing the energy consumption of the air conditioner by up to 80%.

Ventilation with recuperation saves up to 96% of energy resources related to room ventilation without opening windows and losing heat/coolness. In the copper heat exchanger, there is an inter-channel transfer of the exhaust air temperature to the incoming fresh air. As a result, outdoor air is supplied to the room at a comfortable temperature, requiring no additional heating or cooling.

For example, the Prana 160 in mode 1 provides an air exchange of 5m³/h of both supply and exhaust. In mode 2 – 14m³/h, in mode 3 – 21m³/h, in mode 4 – 32m³/h, in mode 5 – 52m³/h, and Boost mode – 70m³/h. In the first speed mode and also in Night mode, the system consumes from 3.2Wh. When the heating elements in the system are turned on and the Boost mode is working, consumption can reach 74Wh. The system is quite quiet, with noise at a distance of 3 meters being 8 dBA, and at the 4th speed, it will be 36dBA. The heat retention coefficient is 98%, meaning we do not lose heat in the room, thus saving on heating costs. The Prana 210G/210C systems operate on the same principle.

Selecting the Right Prana Heat Exchanger/Heat recovery unit

arrow

Depending on your room and the number of people in it, you select the recuperator. Rooms up to 25m² can be fitted with one Prana 160 system. For areas from 25 to 30m², one Prana 210G system is sufficient. For areas from 30 to 40m², one Prana 210C system is suitable.

Another important factor when selecting a recuperator is the ceiling height, the number of people simultaneously in the room, and the purpose of the room.

Is the System Noisy?

arrow

The system has a noise level of 8 dB at a distance of 3 meters. This noise level is comfortable for a person in the first two operating modes. For nighttime, you can use the "Night mode."

Does the Prana Heat Exchanger Work When Turned Off?

arrow

Yes. With the recuperator cover open and the motors turned off, there is uncontrolled air movement depending on the influence of other ventilation systems, the season, wind speed, etc. This operating mode is called passive.

Does the Prana Heat Exchanger Freeze in Winter?

arrow

For comfortable and safe operation of the recuperator in the winter period, it is recommended to use the "Winter mode" and "Mini-heating." With proper use, the PRANA ventilation system can be used in a temperature range from -30 to +50°C.

How Does the Prana Heat Exchanger Work Against Mold?

arrow

If there are already visible signs of mold and mildew in the room, they must first be removed mechanically. PRANA recuperators eliminate the main causes of mold appearance – excessive humidity and air stagnation in the room. Effective air exchange significantly reduces the number of mold spores in the air, preventing its reappearance.

How Can You Control the Prana Heat Exchanger?

arrow

The system can be controlled using the remote control included with each system or via the PranaOnline2.0 mobile application by connecting through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

How Often Should the Prana Heat Exchanger Be Serviced?

arrow

The recuperator should be cleaned 1-2 times a year to maintain the warranty and proper system operation. If your system has a filter, it should be cleaned or replaced as it gets dirty. You will be informed about this by a triangle icon in the mobile application or on the recuperator's screen.

How Is Moisture Removed?

arrow

During daily activities, humans constantly release moisture: through breathing, hygiene activities, wet cleaning, laundry. The recuperator ensures the effective removal of used moist air from rooms, positively affecting the overall humidity of the room. If you have high humidity or live near the sea, we recommend using a dehumidifier as the effect will be even better when paired with a recuperator.

Is MVHR suitable for older properties?

arrow

Yes! While MVHR is most efficient in airtight properties (<5m³/(h.m²) @50Pa), the Prana ERP PRO works effectively at all airtightness levels. For older, less airtight properties, you'll still benefit from improved air quality, moisture control, and some heat recovery - just with slightly reduced efficiency. We offer a free survey to assess suitability.

Can I still open windows with MVHR installed?

arrow

Absolutely! You can open windows anytime. However, the system works most efficiently with windows closed. Many customers find they rarely need to open windows since the Prana ERP PRO provides continuous fresh air. The summer bypass mode prevents overheating without window opening.

How much does it cost to run?

arrow

The Prana ERP PRO costs approximately £30-50 per year to run (based on continuous low-speed operation). However, you'll save hundreds of pounds annually on heating bills by recovering 90% of heat that would otherwise be lost through ventilation.

What maintenance is required?

arrow

Minimal! Simply replace filters every 6-12 months (depending on air quality) and wipe down air valves occasionally. Annual professional servicing is recommended but not essential. Filters cost approximately £50-80 per year.

Will it work with my heat pump?

arrow

Yes! The Prana ERP PRO is fully compatible with air source and ground source heat pumps. It's actually recommended as part of the Future Homes Standard 2025 for heat pump installations, as it dramatically reduces the heating demand.
